My History And the Cars Why I SHould Win

Hello there my name is Patrick Jr I just wanted to tell everyone a little about myself and my car. It all started when i was about seven years old and and my father has always been involved with cars, he has been restoring early mustangs sense he was about my age now. Like a father son tradition i was the tool boy or just holding the light or helping water sand the cars. Then the years passed and i turned 15 and it was about time i had a project for myself. The next few months were spent looking for a mustang that was priced within my budget, i always dreamed of having a 1967 or 68 fastback after watching ebay and looking through many auto magizens, we got a phone call from one of my fathers old friends and he happen to know where a old ford mustang was for sale. So that following weekend we called the guy and went to go see it. The story gets better what he called a old mustang was actually a 1967 fastback s code car, my father and i mouths dropped and this car was complete with the exception of the correct engine. The best part was this car was only a quarter mile from our house. after talking with the guy and lots of beer drinking done by my father and the seller we came up with a price.... well lets just say i was not looking forward with a price of 5500.00. That next day i rounded up a few of my buddy's and we pushed the car home.

The next few day's were spent disassembling the car then I began thinking of what i wanted to do with this car leave it stock pro street it or make an Shelby look alike. Well lets just say i got to do what i had the money to do. I really never made a full decision on what i wanted to do but i did have an idea or several ideas on what i would it to look like. Well being 15 i changed my mind about 100 times what i would of liked to of done.

The hole summer i was working on that car fixing my floor plans and rust issues over the course of that summer. Then i started the body work after two summers of bondo glazing pudy and primer i got the car straight as i could get it. During the winter time between those summers i did the suspension on the car i started by removing the 9 inch in that back and the front suspension of the car junking the old front and putting all new suspension in. I then disassembled the nine inch and rebuilt it. Then going back that summer i came up with a color the original color was the lime green i liked that color but, just didn't pop out like the 05 mustang lime gold color. Then after that summer we moved on to the sand blasting of all that parts hardware and general clean up of all the pars i would reuse. Then in March of 07 paint day we sprayed the car in our backyard i know some people take theirs to a shop just because of the elements of out side painting fly's dirt leafs DOGS!!!!!!....... but if you choose your days wisely u can have a paint job as almost as good as a shop job.

Then after the painting i waited about a good month before i touched that car. I then buffed the car out in three stages a light water sanding and 3m's buffing compounds ultra cut, cut, and the final glaze which took out the orenge peel completely.

Then came the reassembly my favorite part of this hole project but not so for my wallet..... after paint i got enough money saved up working at a local fast food joint to get 60% of the exterior on the car, by this time i was about 1 month from graduation of high school and the school car show was coming up. I contemplated weather to trailer it down or not but a few of my buddy's convinced me to do it for shits and giggles. Well that was about the time i got my new wheels and tires on the car so i felt like i had a small chance. I competed with about 10 to 15 other classic cars and i was surprised by the reaction with my car all the judges liked it a lot, and the next day they announced the 1st 2nd place winner of the show..... 2nd place Patrick Bakich WOW i thought to myself i was very happy and could not wait to tell my father. The rest of the school year i was remembered by your that guy with the mustang.

Then i began the final order of parts for the rest of the outside of the car a a few parts for the inside which lasted me the rest of the summer before i started my job in the oil fields. i worked out there making a decision on weather to go to school or finish the car. Well i went to school to become a Diesel Technician For Quinn Caterpillar which was a one year program.

Now being done with school i would like to get back on the car but our state of economy has made that tough for me to get a job like everyone else.

Now what i have planed for the future for this car is to hopefully win the 10 G's from Royal Purple and put the Heidts 4 bar in the rear with 31 spline axle's and ether a spool or locker, then with the front i would like to putt the mustang 2 front suspension with rack and pinion so i would have room for the 514 bb i would like to put in it with ether a Richmond or Jericho 5 speed trany. Then a few other mods but over all i think i like the direction I'm going in kind off a sleeper look from the outside of the car. Well if you got this far reading this thanks for reading my story and the best of Luke to all off you. This is why i think i should win!!

I just wanted to thank Royal Purple and the power block for letting me enter and My God Bless everywon making this site possible and to all of the car enthosests sorry cant spell but once agan thank you all

Thanks for your kind comment!!!!
Looks like there is some light at the end following your example. Nice ride! It is amazing how often these classic Mustangs figure into a family's history. My history with this car dates back to the 70's. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the comment!!
Yeah, I agree with picking a 429/460 to stroke. The major reason I wanted to stay with the FE is that I already own the engine! That's a good looking Fast Back you have there!!

Hi Patrick, thanks for the nice words, your car looks great by the way, it's always nice to see more fastbacks here. It's also nice to hear you and your Dad are both into cars, I was also the tool/light/part holder when I was younger, and on my project I got lots of help from my son. In fact I let him spray paint some of the underhood brackets and parts when he was about 6. Hopefully when he's a bit older (he's 8 now) he and I can do a car for him as well. Jim

Thanks for the add! Unfortunatly is is not a orginal bb car. It is a F code 302 car. The engine is a 390 out of a Torino. Sweet car you got there. Love them 67 fastbacks!!!!

Thanks Patrick! U have a nice stang too. I love the 67-68 fastbacks. My grandfather has a 68 GT 390 4-speed car the same color as yours. It might just be painted black. but did u have to replace the front clip and firewall? On my 70 mach 1 i had to replace the front clip also. there was a tree growing through the center of my engine compartment. the mach 1 had been sittinging in the woods since 1983. I bought it Jan. of 07. It is almost complete. Good luck.
