My name is Larry Gregorio, and my car is a 1967 Plymouth Barracuda. I found this car in 1991, in Ossipee New Hampshire. It was sitting in a barn, cover in layers of dust and rust. It belong to a man I've first met a year earlier. I was 23 at the time. This man came up to me and introduce himself as Ralph, and he was my father. The last time he saw me was in July 26, 1967 when I was first born, in Vietnam. He got shot the next day in the head. He was sent back to the states and lost contact. The car was bought in 1967 by his twin sister in Boston Mass. She gave him the after he rolled his 68 Barracuda. He said he keep the 67 all this time cause it was the same year I was born. In 1992, he gave me the car. It was rough, but it did run. I had the car ship over to Fort Ord, Ca. where I was station at the time. I didn't have the time to do any body work, but did keep the engine running strong, by doing the tune up, changing the oil and transmission fluid. After I got out of the military, I pull the engine out, and found that the engine was not the original. Somewhere down the line when my father own it the motor was replace. He blame his brother, cause he loan the car to him for a month once. The original motor was suppose to be a 273, but the motor I pulled out was a 1973 318. So I decided to put in a 1972 340 block, with a purple cam (.484 - 284). Mopar performance Electronic Ignition kit (chrome ecu). Hi volume oil pump, B&M Flexplate, Milodon gear drive, Electronic fuel pump, and TTI Headers. The wheels are Outlaw II. The rear end is a Dana 60, the transmission is the original A904. I've rewired the whole car, moved the battery in the trunk with the ECU, horn relay, starter relay and regulator. I've put the coil in the firewall, and clean up the engine compartment. Did all the body work and paint it Viper Red, and install a new top, all in my garage.
The reason I join this contest is to get some help on getting my best friend car ready for his son. My friend Mike and I was real close. He was like a brother to me. So much so, that when he pass away in 2007, I quit my $73,000 a year job in California, and moved to Texas to keep a promise. Back in the late 90's he got married and had a baby girl. A few days after his daughter was born, he made me promise him, that if anything should happen to him that I would watch over and help take care of his family. Well, here I am living in Texas now and working for the city, making $23,000 a year. Mike owned a 67 Chevy Camaro, that he left to his son. I would like to restore the Camaro, just like Mike wanted too.
